EMS
- Q:
- What do I need to transmit?
- A:
- In order to transmit, you will need a LIFEPAK 12 or 15 monitor/defibrillator with associated LIFENET subscription and a gateway device with an appropriate data plan - either a modem directly connected to your device, an InMotion OMG gateway, or your internet enabled ePCR tablet running the LIFENET PC Gateway.
- Q:
- Is there a charge per transmission?
- A:
- No. All you need is a subscription per LIFEPAK device which is offered as 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year subscriptions.
- Q:
- One of the hospitals I send information to wants to change where it is received. What do I do?
- A:
- You do not have to do anything. One of the things that makes the LIFENET System simple for you to use is that you only have to select the hospital you are sending information to. The hospital will determine how things are routed within their system and who is alerted.
- Q:
- How can I review my code data?
- A:
- You can easily and quickly review code data by using CODE-STAT™ data review software. Using LIFENET Connect, you can send that data to
CODE-STAT via the internet using the same mechanism as sending your patient data. This means that you can send data to CODE-STAT while you are still in the field.
- Q:
- Do I have to purchase additional support?
- A:
- No. Included with your subscription is implementation support to help you get up and running and ongoing support through our SmartDesk.

HOSPITAL
- Q:
- Does my hospital have to install any servers?
- A:
- No. The LIFENET System is a hosted solution by Physio-Control. This means that you only need to download a small application to your internet-connected Windows PC. The LIFENET System is managed and maintained by Physio-Control in a best-in-class data center alleviating you and your IT department of that burden.
- Q:
- How can I receive alerts from the field?
- A:
- Alerts can be received via LIFENET Alert, a small computer application installed on your windows machine that provides both a visual and audible alert, via text message, email, or printer. Once information has been received, you can then easily share this with other careteam members or other hospitals on the LIFENET System.
- Q:
- Can I receive information from the field via fax?
- A:
- No, the LIFENET System does not support fax due to the limited resolution. For customers looking for hard copy 12-lead ECGs received from the field, LIFENET Alert supports manual or automated printing to a laser printer which generates a diagnostic quality 12-lead ECG report.
- Q:
- Do you have an iPhone app?
- A:
- Yes. LIFENET Consult is an iPhone app that allows physicians to provide consults remotely and provide rapid decision support.
- Q:
- Do I need to pay for implementation and support services?
- A:
- No. Implementation and ongoing support are included in your LIFENET subscription.
- A:
- Yes. All data connections from the field to the hospital are encrypted using 128-bit SSL encryption. In addition, there are multiple security safeguards and audit mechanisms as part of the LIFENET System.
- A:
- No. The data is yours and you set how long the data is available for you to access from 1 hour up to 7 days before it is purged permanently from the datacenter.
- Q:
- How can I keep data longer than 7 days?
- A:
- There are two options. LIFENET Archive allows you to keep the data locally, either on a local computer or a network drive. LIFENET Export allows you to export the data to GE MUSE® or another external system that supports generic images (PDF, JPG, TIFF).
- Q:
- Does Physio-Control have access to my patient data?
- A:
- No. The SmartDesk only has access to account information and job logs to help support requests. Physio-Control does not have access to patient data.
